To take part in the Conference you must submit an abstract with your proposal. The accepted proposals must be submitted in a complete format (full paper) to be analyzed by the Scientific Committee. All authors must enroll in the Conference between February 13 and May 12.

Proposals

Proposals are invited and will preferably address one or more of the following sub-themes:

  • Planning history and the geographic, political and institutional scale
  • Planning cities and urbanization processes: tensions, convergences and social issues
  • Cities, modernization and cosmopolitanism: social, political and cultural challenges
  • Urban networks in world processes: past and present
  • Cities and the symbolic representation of the nation
  • Architecture and the city: historical, social and cultural issues

Language

English will be the official language at the 2012 IPHS Conference in São Paulo.

Submission Process

The proposals can be of two types:

  • Individual papers with one or more authors;
  • Pre planned sessions (thematic sessions) proposed by a coordinator.

Each author may submit up to 02 proposals

To submit your proposal you must complete your registration to get your login and password.

Proposals should be prepared in the form of an abstract of no more than 500 words including references. Links between the paper and proposed conference sub theme(s) should be indicated if possible. A short biographical statement (500 words) or an abbreviated cv of each author of papers and of each participant needs to be submitted, including full contact information (email, phone and address).

Dates and Deadlines

  • 1st July 2011 | Start of abstract and preplanned sessions proposals submission;
  • 14 November 2011 | Deadline for abstract and preplanned sessions proposals submission;
  • 12 December 2011 | Notification of acceptance of abstract and preplanned sessions proposals acceptance;
  • 29 February 2012 | Deadline for full text submission;
  • by 16 April 2012 | Notification of referee comments;
  • 16 May 2012 | Deadline for full text submission to be included in the proceedings.
