In 1835, the government of the province of São Paulo acquired the Typographia d'O Farol Paulistano printing shop, creating therefore a company dedicated to print official matter, but that also continued to issue newspapers edited by private citizens. It was leased to Manoel Francisco da Costa Silveira between 1838 and 1842; to Francisco José da Silva Sobral from 1842; and to Antonio Louzada Antunes in 1852. In 1853, the president of the province authorized the sale of the printing shop.
